The Nurse Endoscopist team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust is expanding! An exciting opportunity has arisen, for a Band 8a Nurse Endoscopist to join our team.This role provides the opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated individual to deliver a professional nurse endoscopist service. Working across Birmingham Heartlands, Solihull and Good Hope Hospitals you will ensure endoscopy is delivered in line with best practice with an excellent patient experience at the heart of what we do.The post holder will be expected to deliver an endoscopic service carrying out gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy procedures to a JAG accredited standard.   • * Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC Register.
  • * Professional knowledge acquired through post graduate degree /supplemented by specialist training ,experience, short courses to Masters level equivalent
  • * JAG Accreditation in Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy
  • * Non-Medical Prescribing Course or willingness to undertake where this is a requirement of the role
Desirable
  • * Advanced Life Support qualification
  • * IR(ME)R Radiation exposure safety course
  • * BCSP Accrediatation
ExperienceEssential
  • * Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
  • * Willingness to become a practice supervisor / assessor or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment
  • * Extensive post registration experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Band 7 or above in defined speciality
  • * Extensive experience of working autonomously at a specialist level
  • * Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of ongoing professional development/ competence.
  • * Demonstrate expert knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to speciality
  • * Working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment
  • * Experience of patient service user advocacy role
  • * specialist care delivered to patients and give advice and information to patients /relatives/ care staff
