Following approval from the Department of Education, NHSE was awarded funding to develop a NHS National Supported Internship programme for young people with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities (LDD) as well as Autism.This very unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to support students with their education within this Supported Internship programme called Choices College.We are looking for Learning Support Assistants to work closely with our Tutors in delivering the educational outcomes of Employability and Functional skills qualificationsThe post holder will be a confident communicator with students who have a range of learning disabilities and have recent extensive experience in supporting the education of students with SEN on a 1 to 1 basis in the classroom.A passion for supporting students with SEN to meet their full potential is essential for this role.The vacancy requires working at various sites in the Hampshire or London area. A full drivers licence and access to a vehicle is essential.Main duties of the jobThe Learning Support Assistant's main duties will include supporting delivery of bespoke Employability training and functional skills to interns, supporting the delivery of sessions in a classroom setting. Maintaining weekly individual records for each student that meet inspection requirements, is also a part of this role.The LSA will:
  • Support SEN pupils on a 1:1 basis in the classroom
  • Providing targeted support outside of the classroom such as the intern's placement
  • Work on differentiated activities with groups of students
  • Liaise with the tutor to deliver SEN provision
  • Support the development of social/emotional skills of the students
  • Work with tutors to monitor progress of pupils

  • Qualifications to include GCSE/Functional Skills in English Language, NVQ/QCF, ECDL or equivalent level of knowledge

Knowledge and ExperienceEssential
  • A knowledge and understanding of a variety of special educational required for the Choices College students
  • Experience of working in a classroom supporting students with qualifications ranging from entry level 1 - level 2
  • Experience of working with students who have Special Educational Needs
  • Working knowledge of MS office packages
Desirable
  • An understanding of the employability curriculum which covers a range of topics in line with the preparing for adulthood outcomes/Ofsted requirements
