We're seeking a dedicated IRO (Independent Reviewing Officer) to join a committed team in North Yorkshire, delivering high-impact work through independent oversight of Child Protection Conferences, Children Looked After Reviews, and Foster Carer Annual Reviews.🎯 In This Role, You Will:
- Chair Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences, Looked After Child (LAC) Reviews, and Foster Carer Annual Reviews
- Ensure all reviews are held within statutory timeframes, in line with legislative requirements and best practice standards
- Champion the voice of the child in every review, ensuring their views are heard and reflected
- Provide independent challenge where necessary to improve the quality of planning and decision-making
- Monitor and track progress against care and protection plans
- Collaborate with social workers, managers, carers, families, and other professionals to deliver the best outcomes
✔️ A Social Work qualification & registration with Social Work England
✔️ 4+ years' post-qualified experience in children's social care
✔️ Deep understanding of Child Protection, Looked After Children, and Fostering legislation
✔️ A confident, independent mindset and a strong commitment to upholding children's rights
✔️ Strong communication, mediation, and negotiation skills
✔️ Experience working within multi-agency, inter-professional settings
✔️ A proactive, quality-focused, and outcome-driven approach
