We are looking for a well motivated compassionate GP to be an autonomous professional and integral member of our growing, friendly and supportive practice team that looks after our 6,400 registered patient population.Main duties of the jobThis is a varied position covering 7-8 clinical sessions per week to include some on-call duties, home visits and administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate will work alongside our established practice team to deliver a high-quality Primary care service. To record all data on the computer system in line with good clinical record keeping and with SNOMED codes relevant to QOF.To undertake and manage the administrative workload generated by the clinical workload and other administration necessary for the running of the practice.
  • Responsible for providing appropriate, evidence-based clinical care to patients seen, and arranging appropriate treatment, investigation and referral
  • Managing and following up investigations ordered
  • Looking after a case mix of acute and chronic patients and providing continuity of care
  • Paying attention to screening, prevention and chronic care issues when patients attend for acute problems
  • All aspects of work with reference to agreed practice, local and national guidelines
  • Recording data on the Practice IT system to a standard compatible with good clinical record keeping and following the practice guidance
  • Record relevant and timely data to aid the practice to meet its targets
  • Prescribing should be according to accepted clinical practice and guidance for acute and repeat prescriptions. It should follow practice policies and procedures eg use of formulary and management of repeat prescribing
  • Dealing with telephone contact and messages from patients one has treated and arranging appropriate follow up
  • Home visits when indicated
  • Minor surgery would be desirable.
Any special interests will be encouraged and developed
  • To manage the normal administrative work-load generated by patient contact such as referral letters, medical certificates, administrative forms, queries from other health professionals, third party reports etc.
  • Practice administration which is done on a shared basis such as repeat prescriptions, action and coding of significant diagnosis from letters received,
  • Claim all fees appropriately e.g. private medical certificates (fees remain the property of the practice)
  • Participate in the education and training of team members as appropriate
