HLTA - Specialist SEN School - IslingtonLong Term Futures are working with a nurturing and well-resourced specialist SEN school in Islington to appoint a confident and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) from September 2025.This all-through specialist school caters to children and young people with complex learning needs including autism, physical disabilities and medical conditions. Many students require support with personal care, and the school takes a fully therapeutic, person-centred approach to learning and wellbeing.The successful candidate will play a key role in leading learning sessions, supporting classroom staff, and providing high-quality personal care and tailored support for students.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and deliver small group learning sessions under the direction of teaching staff
  • Provide 1:1 and in-class support for students with physical, sensory or medical needs
  • Carry out personal care tasks including toileting, changing and hygiene routines (full training provided)
  • Assist with planning, preparation and resource development for lessons
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to review meetings and EHCP targets
  • Support staff across the setting as a key HLTA in both academic and care-focused areas
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • HLTA status or extensive experience in a similar senior TA role
  • Experience working in a specialist or SEN school environment
  • Confidence delivering personal care in a dignified and sensitive way
  • Excellent communication, organisational and teamworking skills
  • A calm, patient and professional attitude with a passion for inclusive education
