We are looking for a 0.8wte Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work in our existing stroke team. You will be responsible for providing assessment, treatment and evaluation to patients on the acute stroke wards at Colchester Hospital.We are looking for a Band 6 OT to build on their previous experience, to further develop their clinical and managerial competencies.You will develop neurological expertise within the team as a member of the Specialist Stroke Team providing care to patients who have had a recent stroke.You will be an autonomous professional practitioner working without the need for direct supervision.You will carry out appraisals & clinical supervision for more junior members of the team.You will be a clinical educator to students on placement with the team.You will be able to delegate work appropriately.You will appropriately manage assistant practitioners and therapy assistants within the team.You will be able to prioritise referrals & workload.You will practice in accordance with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists rules of Professional Conduct and Standards of OT, and the Health Professions Council's regulations.Main duties of the jobYou will perform Occupational Therapy assessments of patients with diverse presentations and complex conditions to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.You will consolidate prior knowledge and ensure continued development of a broad range of clinical skills in rehabilitation.You will supervise therapy assistants within the team and deliver training where appropriate and required.You will supervise, educate and assess performance of OT students.The stroke team deliver stroke rehabilitation as part of 7-day working.About usWe are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex.
