This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)at EPUT.The post holder will be based at St Aubyn's Centre in Colchester ( Longview and Larkwood wards) and Rochford Hospital (Poplar Ward), in Rochford, near Southend on Sea, supporting the delivery of Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention, supporting band 5 Occupational Therapists, Apprentice and Activity Coordinators.We provide an integrated service, with an in-depth, holistic assessment of the psychological, social and physical needs of each referred young person. An assessment is undertaken for all our young people, before a decision is taken about further in-patient treatment or discharge to appropriate care providers.We place a strong emphasis on the multi-disciplinary team approach and young people's care plans and views agreed daily with the input of all team members

Main duties of the job1. To undertake occupational therapy assessments for all young people who are under the care of Longview, Larkwood and Poplar ward, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling them in areas of self-maintenance, productivity and leisure.2. To utilise specialist assessments when presented with complex cases.3. To make decisions on the level of treatment intervention required.4. To undertake treatment planning, communicating and negotiating treatment plans and clinical reasoning for intervention with patients and their carers.5. To communicate agreed treatment/care plans to multi-disciplinary team colleagues and partnership agencies and liaise with them at formal and informal meetings.6. To undertake manual handling assessments ensuring other professionals and carers are aware of manual handling needs.7.   • Advanced/working knowledge of pathology and occupation in its widest sense, e.g. Mental Health, musculoskeletal, neurological, sensory impairment, the impact of the aging process on function

  • Risk assessment particularly and safeguarding process.
  • Models of supervision.

  • Working knowledge of the prescription of aids and adaptations to independent living.

  • Post registration experience as an Occupational Therapist. Supervision, advice and support of junior staff and/or students
  • Experience or working within mental health or learning disabilities, or social services provision.
  • Utilisation of appropriate assessment techniques to assess individual's abilities in relation to their desired goals in everyday activities including mobility
  • Application of advanced/working knowledge in order to plan and achieve realistic outcomes for individuals and groups - physical and mental health.
  • Work with and through others to achieve environmental modifications that empower individuals and carers to achieve independence. Integrate theory and practice and demonstrate creative problem-solving processes.
