
Staff Nurse - Neonatal

- To deliver a high standard of nursing care.
- To communicate with parents/carers, involving them in the planning and delivery of care by working together in partnership with them as part of family centred care.
- To manage clinical emergencies as required, ensuring that he/she is up to date with CPR training and newborn life support.
- To use medical equipment safely and competently and to supervise others in its use.
- To record and interpret vital signs, informing senior nursing staff and taking required action when they demonstrate deterioration.
- To liaise with parents/carers; to keep them fully informed of their baby's condition; to deal appropriately with patients/ relatives coping with difficult situations e.g. bereavement, debilitating conditions.
- To undertake revalidation and be able to identify personal learning needs. Act in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct and the Trust Code of Behaviour / Values.
- Registered chidrens nurse with NMC PIN
- Experience of working in a newborn/neonatal setting
- Able to work flexible to meet service needs
- An understanding of child protection issues
- The ability to effectively function as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- The ability to assess patients; develop, implement and evaluate a plan of care.
- The ability to effectively prioritise own workload
- The ability to keep accurate records in accordance to NMC guidelines for records and record keeping.
- Experience of working within a hospital neonatal or newborn care setting (this can be gained through student placement).
- Recent nursing experience as a registered nurse in a level 2 or 1 NICU
