This is a key role in the innovation and development of our actuarial services that focus on our member and operational services. The opportunity this role presents is one which combines the rigour of an actuarial approach and skill set to build an efficient, progressive and ambitious member operational service provision.This role provides opportunities to shape, build and assist in the deployment of longer term strategic and tactical actuarial and data led builds to support the growth ambitions of the Defined Benefit (DB) Operational Service Area’s.Your contributions will enhance the scalability of our operational platforms, supporting the DB team to provide reliable, comprehensive and market leading solutions to our clientsIn this role you will:
- Work closely with the DB Member and Operational Serve teams to gather requirements and specifications for platform and tool development, testing, and validation. Ensure model developments are embedded effectively.
- Manage the actuarial testing and sign-off for new schemes loaded to existing member options factor automation when required.
- Prepare and/or check internal sign off documentation for each development as required following agreed sign off process
- Develop a deep knowledge of all systems and tools used our actuarial and operational teams.
- Proactively drive projects forward to ensure they are progressed in line with expected timescales.
- Actively assist in development of junior DB team members through training and knowledge sharing
- Collaborate with the DB Strategic Development team to ensure the interoperability of the developed tools and platforms.
- Collaborate with the DB Pricing and Proposition Development teams to new or enhanced tools can be supported with our Pricing platform if required
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across DB to ensure that tool and data structure changes flow through effectively to the wider DB ecosystem.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong IT skills, particularly Excel
- Good interpersonal, team working and leadership skills
- Excellent verbal, and written communication, with the ability to present complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to work without supervision
- Strong technical skills, deep technical knowledge of actuarial concepts particularly those underlying bulk annuity pricing.
