This pivotal role is ideal for someone passionate about delivering high-quality care and driving service improvement in a complex and fast-paced environment.As Matron, you will lead a demanding and evolving service, with a focus on increasing capacity and enhancing patient care across multiple specialties. You will have overarching responsibility for:Adult & Paediatric Cardiac SurgeryPlastics and the Hand UnitPost Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU)Your leadership will span both direct and indirect line management, ensuring clinical excellence and consistency across diverse areas. The jobholder will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is provided within the wards and departments for which they are responsible and ensure the principles of clinical governance are implemented at a local level. The jobholder will work in partnership with the facilities department in ensuring high standards of hospital cleanliness is maintained, embracing the principles outlined in the Matrons charter.The jobholder will be easily identifiable to patients, provide strong leadership through a visible presence and provide support, advice and assistance required by patients, their families and carers. The jobholder will also support the implementation of the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), being a focal point for advice to patients and carers and local resolution of complaints.Current services comprise wards and departments across Theatres and and Anaesthetics CSU. The jobholder has indirect management of approx. 300 whole time equivalent nursing and support staff. The jobholder has direct line management of the Team Leaders within the CSU or a part of it.
