If you hold a graduate visa, you are welcome to apply for this role however it is important to note that UHNM will be unable to offer sponsorship at the end of your graduate visa, you must also have at least six months until your graduate visa expires at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons.The post holder will be based at a UHNM site.The post holder will have a Consultant(s) allocated to themThe post holders are required to support the Team Leader Medical Secretary in the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service to a specialty team. This will involve management for, communicating appointment and admission related information to patients and carers and/or typing correspondence as appropriate.This role is a medical secretary role and includes all office duties, typing letters, clinic alterations, answering telephone calls, using software packages such as Microsoft, Careflow, IPortal, along with other office based duties. This is not an exhaustive list of roles and responsibilities.Main duties of the jobMain duties of the job will involve:Responsibility for handling telephone and other communications with sensitivity and confidentialityTo ensure systems are in place to deliver a high standard of communication to build and maintain good working relationships.Effective management of waiting lists, including compliance with the Patient Access Policy to ensure that waiting time standards are achieved, taking into account clinical priority.To be the first point of contact for queries relating to the consultant(s). The post holder will prioritise to ensure the workload is dealt with in a timely manner.Liaise with medical team and appointments department to arrange, cancel or alter clinical commitments to contribute to the smooth running of the department.The post holder may be required to take minutes at department/team meetings.Provide information, advice and guidance to patients, relatives and carers relating to appointments and/or admissionsThe post holder will be required to demonstrate new duties to new starters.To maintain good working relationships and work as an effective team member.The post holder will be required to process, transmit and store patient data using a computerised system, file paper data within the case record in a retrievable format.About usUniversity Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is one of the largest and most modern in the country.
