We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic nurse, with an interest in developing their leadership skills, to join our existing team to continue to provide the highest quality patient care. We welcome applications from nurses that have acute hospital experience at a Band 5 level, and with a keen interest in elderly care and the development of their professional nursing career. Our teams are motivated, committed and creative and want to develop in order to provide the best care we can.As a division, we offer band specific development pathways in house. The Trust also offers an in-house leadership course, and specific training to develop your management & advanced clinical skills relevant to the area. A mentor will be allocated, and the ward manager and practice development team's support will be in place.Main duties of the jobThe Sister / Charge Nurse takes responsibility, and is accountable for providing safe and effective care for patients over the age of 65 with an acute medical condition on the ward.The Sister / Charge Nurse will safely and effectively delegate to the wider team, ensuring support and training is in place.They are accountable for patient, public and staff experience. They will lead, offer clinical advice and support management of services to ensure the delivery of high quality, effective, and compassionate nursing care. This will be in line with local, Trust wide and national policies, procedures, values and behaviours.A successful candidate will be managing a caseload of patients and being involved in complex discharge planning working collaboratively within the MDT to provide high quality care and timely discharges.A successful candidate will be supporting and guiding junior colleagues, acting as a role model for student nurses.
