£104 to £114 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)We are working in partnership with a welcoming and well-resourced specialist school in Islington to recruit a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant for the new academic year.The school caters for children and young people with a wide range of needs, including autism, complex medical conditions, learning difficulties and sensory impairments. Many students require support with personal care, emotional regulation and tailored communication strategies.You'll be joining a supportive staff team that works closely with therapy staff, class teachers and the SENCo to ensure every child receives the care and consistency they need to thrive.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with complex SEND needs
- Deliver personal care including toileting, changing, and feeding (training provided)
- Support communication using systems such as PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables
- Promote engagement and independence through sensory and structured learning
- Collaborate with therapy teams, teachers and families to implement EHCP goals
- Maintain a safe, positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Experience working with children or young people with complex needs in a school or care setting
- Willingness to carry out personal care tasks with sensitivity and professionalism
- A calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting challenging behaviour or medical needs
- An understanding of SEN strategies, visual supports or sensory integration
- Background in special schools, care work or health and social care is highly desirable
- Close to Finsbury Park, Highbury & Islington and Caledonian Road stations
- Bus routes include: 19, 259, 393, 153, 43

- Weekly pay - £104 to £114 per day
