Closing Date: 09.09.25Shortlisting to take place after closing date: commencing 10.09.25Interview expected to take place in the week following shortlisting: commencing 15.09.25A Band 6 opportunity has arisen on Ward 3 BRI.An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring Senior Staff Nurse looking to develop their management skills and undertake a Band 6 role within a busy Elderly care admissions unit.The post is to support the Ward Manager and existing Sisters in the development of the ward and the delivery of excellent care to our patients.The successful candidate will have line management responsibility and would be expected to effectively manage people alongside training and clinical supervisory responsibilities.The Sister/Charge Nurse role will contribute to the operational management of a safe and quality service delivery on Ward 3 , management of the workforce, budgetary oversight, patient experience, recruitment and retention of staff and effective patient management and flow.An important aspect of the role will be promoting a positive, supportive working environment which values and supports staff. Excellent leadership and communication skills are essential and this will need to be demonstrated at interview. Individuals should be flexible and be able to demonstrate they are an excellent role model with the ability to develop positive and professional interpersonal relationships.Main duties of the jobFollows the NMC code of conduct/practiceEffective management of health and safety issues.Assists the Ward Matron/Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the organisation/delivery and monitoring of all aspects of service users requirements.Assist in assessing the requirements of the unit and assist in accurate control of the unit's budget.Assist in monitoring sickness and absence and accurate sickness management.Assist in implementing and compliance of all trust policies and guidelines.Initiate and develop improvements of services delivered to service users after discussion with senior sister and the ward team.Assist occasionally in production of the ward staff rotas to meet the care needs of the service users.Assist in fostering an environment that is conducive to positive change and empowerment.Investigates and reports untoward occurrences and maintains a safe environment at all times.Ensures safe custody and storage of medication and hazardous materials.Assists in recruitment, selection and retention of staff.Assist in maintaining staff records.Attend all the necessary mandatory training sessions and ensure full compliance withal trust policies.About usOur People Charter outlines the behaviours we can expect from one another and what you can expect from Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust:
