- Plan and develops lessons, including the development of schemes of work
- Develop and implement learner-centred assessment methods, with focus on constructive and development feedback for our students
- Encourage, monitor and report on the attendance, progress and achievements of students
- Ensure safe working environments for students and colleagues, enforce health and safety standard in your area, ensuring all students understand and comply
- Undertake personal coaching and pastoral responsibilities for designated students in order to support them int heir own development and future progression
- Keep abreast of industry developments in your specialist area to ensure the relevance and continued employability of our students
- Actively participate in continuing professional development around theory and practice within the education sector
- Ability to deliver excellent teaching, learning and assessment pedagogic practice & share good practice
- Be able to deliver a variety of pedagogic strategies to suit a variety of learning styles
- Have recent, relevant and successful experience of teaching functional skills and English to learners from Entry Level to Level 2, preferably within a Further Education college'
- Evidence of recent teaching and assessment in delivering functional skills English programmes, with a proven track record of successful delivery within English.
- Be prepared to become a member of the Institute for Learning and undertake CPD activities as required.
- Have a level 5 Subject Specialism as a minimum in English or equivalent
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification
- Right to Work & Enhanced Adult/Child DBS dated within the last 3 months or on the update service
