Are you a passionate and dynamic Highways Operative looking for your next permanent role?We are currently recruiting for a Highways Operative to join our Highways team working on the Norwich project of works. Within this role you will be instrumental in the successful delivery of kerbing, paving, drainage and patching works within the Norwich and Norfolk region by Tarmac along with our sub-contractors.Main ResponsibilitiesWithin the role of Highways Operative you will support the delivery of our programme of Highways works, working within a crew to undertake works orders in a planned fashion and to the highest quality.Responsibilities for the role of Highways Operative will include:
  • Carrying out pre-start checks on each machine you are operating (including hired-in plant)
  • Working to your gangs targets and minimising costs to maximise profitability and offer any alternative methods of working
  • Ensuring all plant is safely and securely stored in the designated areas at the end of your shift
  • Being proactive and updating your personal training plan with your line manager at your regular review sessions
  • Achievement of Company and Contractual KPI's and year-on-year improvement of Contract/Scheme KPI's
  • Have a keen eye for detail and reporting Safety Observations on our Tarmac reporting system
  • H & S - Zero accidents and environmental incidents
  • Ensuring all Health and Safety standards are being adhered too across all works alongside collaborating, promoting and developing Health, Safety and wellbeing innovations
You must be able to work overtime to cover out of hours emergency call out as directedThe Ideal Candidate
It is preferred that the successful candidate for the role of Highways Operative will have the following:ESSENTIAL
  • NRSWA card
  • Experience in construction and highways maintenance works
  • A valid UK full manual car driving licence - no more than 6 points
The role is based from our Tarmac Norwich site, in Norfolk and is accessible and commutable from such locations as Norwich, Wymondham, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Sheringham, Thetford, Swaffham, Fakenham, Cromer, Kings Lynn, Downham Market, Beccles, Gillingham, The Broads, Aylesham, North Walsham, Dereham and the surrounding areas.At Tarmac, 'who you are' matters.
