- Supervise student learning: Manage the classroom and ensure that students complete the work that has been set by the absent teacher.
- Uphold school policies: Enforce school rules and procedures, including those related to behaviour, punctuality, and uniform.
- Maintain a positive learning environment: Encourage a calm and respectful atmosphere, addressing any low-level disruption and ensuring students are focused on their work.
- Respond to student queries: Provide basic assistance to students, and if they have more complex questions, note them down for the returning teacher.
- Manage administrative tasks: Take the class register and report any issues or incidents to the relevant staff members.
- Ensure student safety: Be aware of school safeguarding procedures and respond appropriately to any concerns or emergencies.
- A confident and authoritative presence with the ability to manage a classroom effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to be flexible and adaptable, as you will be covering different subjects and year groups.
- A proactive and positive attitude.
- Experience of working with young people, preferably in an educational setting.
