- Supervise whole classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
- Deliver pre-prepared work that has been set by the absent teacher, ensuring students remain on task and focused.
- Manage student behaviour in line with the school's policies and procedures, promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere.
- Respond to student questions about the work and procedures, providing guidance and support without actively teaching the material.
- Report back to the class teacher and relevant staff on the lesson's progress and any issues that arose.
- Collect completed work and return it to the appropriate teacher for marking.
- Assist with other duties when not required for cover, such as supporting a department with administrative tasks or supervising students during break times.
- Previous experience working with young people, preferably in a school setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build rapport and manage a classroom effectively.
- A calm, confident, and assertive presence.
