
Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Interest in Abortion Care)

- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Specifically, he/she must demonstrate higher training in:
- Experience of Labour ward management at a high level and demonstrate full range of skills necessary to provide expert care in a tertiary referral obstetric unit
- Experience in independent gynaecology practice relevant to post
- Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
- Experience in advanced obstetric and gynaecology skills.
- Should have completed a recognised training programme in labour ward and gynaecological practice.
- ATSM/SITM in Safe Practice in Abortion Care (or evidence of equivalent qualification).
- Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
- Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
- Experience of participation in regular clinical audit / quality improvement projects (QIP).
- Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
- Evidence of ongoing research or recent involvement as PI.
- GCP.
- Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
- Experience at National or Regional Level.
- Understanding of current issues in the NHS.
- Evidence of QI/Governance Experience/Service Improvement
- Well organised and skilled in good time management.
- - Effective interpersonal skills
- - Possessing excellent communication skills
- - Demonstrate ability to relate to and work within a team and to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other health professionals and organisations

- Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via:
- CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESR (or) international applicants should comply with the GMC specialty registration process. CESR applicants must be on the relevant Specialist Register at the time of application.
- Attendance at recognised management course.
- Experience working for NHSE or Network organisations or similar.
- MB BS (or equivalent)
- Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK) or equivalent.
- Holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of CCT date in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or have equivalent training and experience.
- On Specialist Register with GMC and holding a licence to practice.
- YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE STATED CLEARLY IN YOUR APPLICATION FORM.
