We are looking for an individual to fill this new post within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust sites.Leeds Teaching Hospitals is a busy, research active tertiary centre providing regional Obstetric and Gynaecology services including specialist fetal medicine, maternal medicine, placenta accreta, urogynaecology and endometriosis services.If shortlisted, you will be required to give a 10-minute presentation on:How can patient centred care be improved and achieved in O&G?INTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD: Friday 3 October 2025Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant should possess MRCOG (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.Applicants should have established skills in obstetrics and gynaecology, including complex obstetrics, gynaecological surgical skills and experience in abortion care.A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.   • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  • Specifically, he/she must demonstrate higher training in:
  • Experience of Labour ward management at a high level and demonstrate full range of skills necessary to provide expert care in a tertiary referral obstetric unit
  • Experience in independent gynaecology practice relevant to post
  • Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
Desirable
  • Experience in advanced obstetric and gynaecology skills.
Training, Research, Teaching & AuditEssential
  • Should have completed a recognised training programme in labour ward and gynaecological practice.
  • ATSM/SITM in Safe Practice in Abortion Care (or evidence of equivalent qualification).
  • Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
  • Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
  • Experience of participation in regular clinical audit / quality improvement projects (QIP).
Desirable
  • Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
  • Evidence of ongoing research or recent involvement as PI.
  • GCP.
  • Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
  • Experience at National or Regional Level.
