DescriptionThis role has a starting salary of £46,399 - £49,588 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week, plus an AMHP Allowance of £3,000 per annum. We also welcome part-time applications.We are hiring Approved Mental Health Professionals to join either our locality-based teams or our frontline teams within our Mental Health service. Our locality teams are based in Leatherhead, Reigate, Tandridge, Woking, Runnymede, Waverly and Guildford whilst our frontline teams are split between Guildford and Reigate."After shadowing an AMHP, I knew it was what I wanted to do to progress in my Social Work career. The work is challenging but extremely rewarding and allows me to utilise my skills and extend my knowledge as a Social Worker. Our goal is for our service-users to be able to be more in control of their care, making informed choices and being active citizens in their community.About the RoleAs a qualified and warranted Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), you will be responsible for undertaking statutory duties as laid out in the Mental Health Act, the Care Act and as part of the Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) service at Surrey County Council.AMHPs in our Community teams support the frontline teams' rota as well as working within the community on casework to assist individuals, carers and families to develop support plans to meet the outcomes identified, using a strength-based approach and family/friends/community options where appropriate.The Frontline AMHP teams cover the whole of Surrey but are split into East and West sub teams. Assessments are allocated daily at 09:00 via an allocations call. In some cases, assessments are allocated in advance and set up for later date. In addition to undertaking assessments frontline AMHPs will also undertake our Shift Lead role on a weekly basis where they will be responsible for screening referrals and allocating as appropriate. This is done with the support of the management team.You will be supported to contribute to the professional development of staff and students through supervision and training.Shortlisting Criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

Ability to maintain personal Approved Mental Health Professional status (Warranted).
Professional Qualification in Social Work.
Post qualifying experience that should include direct work with those who have mental health needs.
A working knowledge of legislation, assessments, preparation of care plans, monitoring and reviewing outcomes.
Commitment to your own professional development, including maintaining up-to-date knowledge of mental health issues.

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area.
