The Deputy Manager will ensure that care delivery is of the highest quality, safe, compliant, and focused on the individual needs of children and young people.Key Responsibilities:Operational LeadershipAct as the designated lead in the absence of the Registered ManagerAssist in delivering and upholding the home’s Statement of PurposeSupport with compliance, quality assurance, audits, and home development plansContribute to the ongoing delivery of therapeutic, child-centred care practicesTeam and Staff ManagementSupervise, appraise, and support residential care staffAssist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and developmentFoster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes excellence and growthEnsure consistent communication and uphold professional boundariesCare and SafeguardingChampion the safeguarding and welfare of all residentsMaintain oversight of care planning, key work, and daily routinesMonitor risk assessments, health and safety practices, and safeguarding protocolsWork collaboratively with external agencies, parents/carers, and professionalsQuality and ComplianceMaintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, including Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, the Children Act 1989, and Ofsted inspection frameworksPromote equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practices across all areasEnsure records, reporting, and administrative functions are completed accurately and timelySupport preparation for and participation in Ofsted inspectionsEssential Requirements:NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent); Level 5 Leadership & Management preferred or willingness to work towardsProven experience in a senior residential childcare roleStrong understanding of children’s residential regulations and safeguarding practicesAbility to manage complex behaviours and respond to crisis situations effectivelyExcellent organisational, interpersonal, and leadership skillsCommitment to a child-centred and trauma-informed approachWhy Natland?Located in the stunning Cumbrian countryside, Natland offers a peaceful and inspiring work environment.
