
Clinical Psychologist in Adult and Paediatric Burns

- Completed (or due to complete) post-graduate doctoral level (or equivalent) training in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS
- Current HCPC registration (or eligibility to qualify for registration post-training)
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS/HCPC.
- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
- Training in the supervision of other psychological professionals
- Knowledge of the theory and clinical practice of evidence-based psychological therapies
- Experience of teaching/training
- Experience of working in an area of adult and/or paediatric clinical health psychology
- Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
- Experience of assessing trauma reactions and delivering evidence-based trauma-focused interventions
- Experience of representing clinical psychology within multidisciplinary teams
- Experience of delivering clinical supervision
- Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
- Ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings
- Ability to identify, provide and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to distressing situations
- Experience of working within a multicultural framework
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management
- Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including both quantitative and qualitative methods
- Experience in conducting clinical research
- Excellent planning, time management and organisational skills
- Ability to identify, and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice
- Ability to sit for prolonged time periods during psychological assessments/therapy sessions
- Ability to travel between the hospital campuses within the day
- Be able to work in acute hospital ward environments, with people with burns and other injuries that are often visible
- Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's "We are here for you" behavioural standards
