HMP Garth has capacity of around 840, and holds inmates serving sentences of 4 years or more. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team, and work in a varied environment, where you will gain experience across primary care, including emergency response, working on the wings, clinics, health promotion, and more! No 2 days are the same in this challenging, yet rewarding and supportive environment. Please note that this is a clinical role, and we need candidates that are competent in skills such as Venepuncture, ECGs, NEWS2 etc. Hours: This is a bank role offering flexible hours to cover additional need such as sickness and annual leave Salary: This position is offered on a bank basis and the hourly rate is £15.25 How will we support you?Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training courseCompetency frameworkRegional and national career development opportunitiesOur bespoke Learning Management System to address your learning needsSupport from the wider teamCandidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checksMain duties of the jobAs our new Bank Healthcare Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
  • Ensure continuity of care for all patients, and deliver outstanding care at all times
  • Carry out bloods, obs, ECGs etc
  • Work across all areas of care, including inpatients, clinics, primary care, health promotion, bloods etc
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed
  • Work holistically with your patients and other healthcare staff, including nurses, nursing associates, pharmacy etc
  • Deliver personalised, non judgemental care, based on patient feedback
  • Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics

  • Hold a NVQ Level 2 / 3 in Health & Social Care, or equivalent work experience
  • Have experience in Venepuncture, ECGs, NEWS2 etc
  • Experience in a healthcare environment - hospital, prison or within the community
  • Although not essential, your own vehicle would be beneficial due to the location of the site
