- Minimum Level 3 qualification in information, Advice and guidance or equivalent
- Communication skills training
- Recent demonstrable experience in a social welfare advisory post or similar.
- Experience of working in partnership with both statutory and voluntary agencies
- Experience of working with palliative patients, their carers, and families
- Experience of working in the community and making home visits
- Experience of preparing appeals, for tribunals and representing clients
- Able to transport self and equipment around the North East Lincolnshire area.
- Physically able to visit people in their own homes
- Up to date comprehensive knowledge of the full range of benefits and charitable funds and a thorough understanding of welfare benefits legislation.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of the potential complex financial concerns faced by people with a cancer and/or palliative care diagnosis.
- Effective interpersonal, diplomacy and negotiating skills applicable to a variety of settings and with a broad cross section of the public.
- Networking and liaison skills and ability to develop effective working relationships with partner agencies and other appropriate organizations.
- Able to respond to conflicting priorities.
- Effective IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work autonomously and make decisions within delegated authority.
- Able to actively and positively contribute to team development.
- Numeracy and literacy skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Ability to complete complex calculations.
- Ability to demonstrate commitment to CPG core values
- Knowledge and understanding funeral poverty.
- Recent experience of audit
- Knowledge of Macmillan Cancer Supports services and policies that are directly relevant to people affected by cancer.
- Recent experience of participation in service development projects
