They're an opportunity to stretch, test and develop your expertise.Join our Power Transmission and Distribution team as a Site Based Construction Manager within our Operational Team. You will deliver complex work that really matters to our business, and the world around you. You will be initially working from our Elgin office, but will be required to travel between Inverness and PeterheadAs a Construction Manager you'll:
  • Support the Project Managers in their responsibility for overall profit and loss of a standard or major project whilst ensuring the highest standards of safety, sustainability, environmental and quality are implemented
  • Promote a collaborative working environment which ensures client, internal and other stakeholders' requirements are effectively managed, and employees feel motivated and engaged to deliver
What you'll be doing
  • Manage Site Engineers / Project Engineers to ensure that all work undertaken satisfies all required safety and technical policies and procedures
  • Plan the work and oversee the requirements for necessary materials, plant and equipment
  • Oversee the requirements for resource and then manage staff for the project
  • Manage the construction site(s) on a day-to-day basis, including supervising the labour force, monitoring subcontractors, checking materials, inspecting work and overseeing quality control
  • Ensure that all work is carried out according to required standards and be responsible for effective liaison and collaboration with Highways Authorities, Local Authorities and other Utilities providers etc.
  • Ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget by setting benchmarks, agreeing budgets and monitoring progress
  • Check design documents
  • Responsible for a working environment which ensures the achievement of all safety and environment legislation, engineering and customer standards.
Who we're looking forResponsible for a working environment which ensures the achievement of all safety The following qualities/experience are essential:
  • Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery
  • Experience working in a similar role with a strong focus on Overhead Line (Tower Assembly / Erection) - essential
  • Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts
  • Proficient in commercial/project management communications
  • Experience in implementing safe systems of work
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the
organisation
  • Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others
to build effective teams.
  • Providing mentoring and support to members of the team where required
  • Commercially astute
  • Full clean UK driving licence
  • Degree Qualified in Electrical/Civil Engineering Discipline - desirable
  • Qualification in APM - desirable
  • Experience in the installation of temporary works to facilitate tower assembly and erection - desirable
