- Leadership or management qualification.
- Proven track record of developing and delivering successful marketing and communications strategies in a complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of current and emerging trends in marketing and communications, including digital, service marketing, and audience-led approaches.
- Demonstrable experience of brand management, corporate communications and reputation building.
- Significant experience of managing media relations, PR and crisis communications.
- Experience of managing budgets, resources, suppliers and business processes to ensure value for money.
- Strong leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences and inspire engagement.
- Strong digital skills, including experience of content strategy, social media, websites, email marketing and analytics.
- Proven ability to embed marketing and communications practice across an organisation, supporting non-specialists to build skills and confidence.
- Knowledge of data protection, safeguarding, copyright, intellectual property and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Experience of monitoring, evaluating and reporting on marketing and communications activity using data and insight.
- Experience working within the health, hospice or not-for-profit sectors.
- Experience of working with volunteers, including recruitment, motivation and retention.
- Experience contributing to governance, assurance or audit processes.
- Track record in local, consumer, and professional media relations
