The Planned Investigation Unit (PIU) is open from 07:30 to 20:00, Monday to Friday consisting of eight trolleys, a telephone pre assessment clinic, a multi-function treatment room where respiratory procedures are undertaken, along with the nurse led greater occipital nerve injection clinic and a 5 chaired infusion and recovery suite.This dynamic and diverse day case unit supports the investigations and treatments of numerous trust wide specialities. We deliver a wide variety of therapeutic infusions and treatments alongside diagnostic and interventional procedures.The team pride themselves on delivering excellent patient care and are always keen to extend their knowledge and skill set. As we are predominately a nurse led unit the environment facilitates individuals to be at the forefront of change.We are looking for an individual who is dynamic and patient focused. Able to work in a fast paced, interesting and varied environment who puts patients first for a 12 month maternity cover secondment.Main duties of the jobTo deputise in all respects in the absence of the Ward Manager, act as a clinical expert within the post holder's particular care environment and provides leadership and clinical advice.To be responsible for meeting the NMC requirements in line with the Code of Professional Conduct for their scope of responsibility. To lead by example, demonstrating effective role modelling to all members of the nursing team. Is accountable for own actions without direct supervision. To be responsible for organising and leading a team of nursing, clerical and support staff within a clinical setting. The post holder, with support from the Ward Manager, will ensure that high standards of patient care are developed, implemented, evaluated and maintained in accordance with the framework of Clinical Governance.***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***About usWe are a people business - where every member of staff matters and can make a difference.
