A leading engineering and manufacturing business in East Kilbride is looking to add an experienced Machine Operator to their team. This is a hands-on role working with a range of conventional machinery, with a particular focus on horizontal boring operations. You'll be joining a company known for its technical expertise, global reputation, and employee ownership model.What You'll Be Doing:
- Operating a range of machine tools, with a key focus on horizontal boring
- Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings to machine components accurately
- Working to tight tolerances, ensuring high-quality output
- Using lathes, milling machines, drills, and other manual equipment
- Measuring and inspecting your own work to maintain standards
- Assisting with process improvements and standard procedures
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working area
- Experience as a Machine Operator or similar in an engineering/manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and work from mechanical drawings
- Skilled in operating a range of manual machine tools
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-driven mindset
- Operating boring machine
- Overhead crane and counterbalance forklift operation
- Awareness of safe working practices in a machine shop
- Salary from £40,000 depending on experience
- Paid overtime at standard hourly rate
- Company profit-sharing bonus scheme (recent average: £6,100 per year)
