Our ships sail across the English Channel, North Sea & Irish Sea and we employ almost 2000 people.The Head of Accounting & Reporting will be responsible for supporting the Finance Director with all internal and external financial accounting and reporting requirements, performing detailed first reviews ahead of the FD, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and integrity of all financial reporting.Location: WokingContract type: fixed term for 6 monthsKey responsibilities:Leading and reviewing reporting to shareholders incl. submission of monthly accounts, consolidation and relevant analysisLead on other monthly reporting required by external stakeholders (eg banks, pension schemes, credit insurers etc.)Oversight and review of preparation of UK statutory accountsOversight and review of European statutory accountingSupport balance sheet and cashflow forecasting, ownership of the consolidated balance sheet and cash flow for the GroupManage the external audit process, owning the relationship with the auditors, reviewing audit specific requests and resolving technical accounting mattersManage financial aspects of internal audit reviews and findingsLead role on sustainability and other ESG reportingManagement and oversight of the Financial Accounting and Reporting team, comprising 3 individuals, as well as management of finance systems and financial compliance managerMember of the Finance senior management team, working closely with other senior managers and their respective teams, to deliver support to the wider business.Contributing to the management and development of the accounting and financial reporting IT systems throughout the Finance DepartmentSupporting all internal governance reportingEnsuring compliance with all other statutory type reporting (e.g. payment reporting, relevant statistical reporting)Transformation of the finance function, supporting the FD with process improvements, suggesting improved controls for various processes throughout the businessEnsure proper application of accounting policies, continuously monitoring the appropriate accounting application and propose corrections and remediations where necessaryDrive continuous improvements in financial controls, processes and systemsAct as the key technical accounting expert and trusted advisor for accounting matters with the team and various stakeholdersPartner with business units and functional teams to ensure accurate reporting and alignmentKey skills & experience:Qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent) with strong technical groundingMinimum 5 years PQEGood knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and ability to apply technical standards in practiceDemonstrate experience of managing audits and working with external auditorsAttention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies timelyStrong leadership skills with experience of managing developing teamsExcellent analytical, problem solving and communication skillsProficiency in finance systems preferred but not essentialProactive and solutions focused, with ability to manage complexityResilient under pressure, with strong organizational and prioritization skillsCollaborative nature and approach to dealing with stakeholdersAt P&O Ferries we want you to be you.
