Regulatory and Commercial Economics ManagerSalary from £61,600 to £77,000 per annum plus with up to 20% Annual Bonus, Family Healthcare and Car AllowanceLocation: Scottish Power HQPermanent / Full TimeHelp us create a better future, quickerRoleLeading regulatory submissions to enable SP Transmission to meet the government’s Clean Power 2030 and Net Zero targets - enabling success by leading an expert team to manage all major project submissions to the regulator Ofgem including regulatory mechanisms and cost inputs considering industry benchmarking.This includes joint ventures with other TOs requiring working in partnership through close co-ordination and engagement.Leading the identification of relevant commercial impacts of regulatory risks and opportunities for SP Transmission across the major project portfolio, working with major projects teams to lead regulatory solutionsLeading on the development of all SPT’s major projects regulatory portfolio investments of c.a. £1.5bn per annum , including supporting the business to interpret and communicate complex policies and guidance into clear lobbying or messaging. This includes supporting ad hoc initiatives.Leading regulatory and strategic engagement with internal project teams, the regulator and working with the government affairs team to support targeted engagement with the governmentManage a specialist team of analysts to support project teams in regulatory submissionsWhat you’ll be doingLeading an expert team of analysts who will provide direct support to the SP Transmission Project teams and across joint ventures with other TOs on associated regulatory submissions.Managing a portfolio of regulatory submissions of over £1.5 bn annual strategic investment across SPT, providing regulatory solutions to commercial and delivery opportunities and challengesLeading the interpretation of complex regulatory issues to deliver in-depth analysis on the potential financial or operational impact on SP Transmission, alongside mitigation proposals.Proactively providing lobbying/messaging within Transmission Network Planning and Regulation Team for internal and external audiencesLeading all major projects-related engagements with Ofgem and developing our major projects policy positions, for example mitigating the regulatory impact of project delays.Supporting all internal briefings on transmission major project matters by providing all economic and regulatory inputs to SPT’s Head of Regulation and Policy.Leading the development of major project inputs into related responses to transmission consultations from Government and Ofgem, working with relevant business contacts to provide technical/ specialist input where needed.Leading the facilitation of all major projects’ economics related external interactions with Ofgem and other strategic stakeholders.Leading the development of economics led calculators to support the wider SPEN business with current strategic major project commercial initiatives.What you’ll bringEconomics qualification and experienceSelf-motivated and driven individual competent at managing own workload with limited supervision.Ability to influence and collaborate at a senior level across SPEN and the wider industry.Experience of engaging with stakeholders and regulators in a regulated environment;Advanced Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and Word Skills (all packages)Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the abilities to influence and persuade effectivelyA track record of delivery, ideally in a relevant area of activityMinimum RequirementsCommercial and/ or regulatory experience essentialEconomics qualification and related experience desirableWhat’s in it for youAs well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
