- Vehicle Inspections: Conducting thorough and accurate inspections to identify issues and ensure vehicles meet safety standards.
- General Servicing: Performing routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
- Repair of Vehicle Defects: Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults to ensure vehicles are roadworthy.
- MOT Preparation: Preparing vehicles for MOT testing, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Diagnostics: Utilising advanced diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot complex issues, including those in hybrid and electric vehicles.
- Paperwork Completion: Accurately completing job cards, service records, and other documentation to maintain transparency and compliance.
- Stock Control: Monitoring and maintaining stock levels of parts and consumables to ensure efficient workflow.
- Electric Vehicle Maintenance: Servicing and repairing electric and hybrid vehicles, with training provided to upskill in this growing area.
- Customer Interaction: Providing clear and professional explanations of work carried out to customers when required.
- A minimum of Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
- Proven experience in a busy workshop environment, with expertise in brakes, cam belts, clutches, and tyre fitting.
- Ideally, possession of an MOT Tester license (though not essential, as training can be provided for the right Vehicle Technician).
- Experience with electric or hybrid vehicles is a bonus but not mandatory.
- A full, valid UK driving license with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Strong diagnostic skills and familiarity with modern diagnostic tools and software.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers and colleagues.
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with team members and document work accurately.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively as part of a busy team.
- A proactive attitude, with the ability to work independently and take initiative when needed.
- A commitment to continuous learning to stay updated with evolving automotive technologies, particularly in electric and hybrid vehicles.
- Knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle systems.
