We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Department in RHC as a band 6 senior staff nurse.As part of a multi -disciplinary team the Senior Staff Nurse will work under the direction of band 7 Senior Charge Nurse. They will participate in the day to day running of the Emergency Department. They will be passionate, forward thinking, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to this role. The department is a fast paced busy department delivering care to a diverse group of patients and their families. The role will include working within a team in several areas within the department including Triage, Minors Majors and Resuscitation. Medication administrations including oral and intra venous will be a large part of the job as well as looking after medical, surgical, orthopaedic and several other speciality patients with an extensive range of illnesses. They will demonstrate clinical competence including Triaging patients, nursing patients in a resuscitation setting administering IV drugs plaster applications dressing and wound management responsibilities, lead a team and deploy skills as appropriate within a challenging clinical environment to name a few. Undertaking the nurse in charge role to oversee and support a team of staff looking after a group of patients with varying degrees of dependency. The role also includes coordinating the department in the absence of the band 7 attending huddles and touchpoints with the senior management team. Managerial tasks will also be an integral part of this role to assist the wider senior nursing team.
