
Gas Responsible Person

- Manage and maintain the gas safety management plans for your area.
- Assess the competence of Gas Skilled Persons for appointment; and review their experience and performance.
- Ensure Skilled Persons are aware of any restrictions related to their work. Where necessary, suspend the appointment of Skilled Persons.
- Maintain all aspects of the Gas Infrastructure Document Record for your area.
- Investigate all reported gas incidents. This involves reporting these to your Gas Safety Manager, and completing detailed reports which will be documented in the Gas Infrastructure Document Record.
- Provide professional and technical support, where required, to Mitie site project teams and DIO.
- Write scope of works to enable Mitie site teams to raise remedial works.
- Review risk assessments, method statements and issue Gas Permits to Work.
- Liaise closely with your line manager, Gas Safety managers and project managers for continued compliance throughout the MoD estate, seeking guidance as necessary.
- Be responsible for carrying out gas network maintenance in your area.
- Keeping up to date with gas industry changes, current regulations, and legislation.
- Actively continue personal and professional development.
- Maintain a positive environment in which Skilled Persons and other team members engage and follow the requirements of the Gas Safety Case, with a self-motivated attitude to gas safety.
- Experience of Gas Safe Systems of Work.
- Knowledge of compliance in gas utilisation.
- Essential ACS qualifications - CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, and CPA1 with significant experience within the gas industry.
- LPG qualifications would be desirable.
- Non-domestic gas qualifications would be desirable.
- Developed IT skills (e.g. Excel, Word etc.) with a good level of report writing is necessary for this post.
- Technical qualifications & training as required by JSP 375 (desirable, although training will be given).
- Self motivation, and ability to work off own initiative.
- Maintaining and managing own workload.
