You’ll work closely with other architecture teams, e.g., Enterprise, Technical, Data & Security Architecture and will collaborate with Business and IT colleagues in Santander UK, as well as Santander Global Architecture.The team concentrates on the functional architecture of applications and how they interact with other systems in the Architecture Landscape of Santander UK, Group and 3rd Parties. The team effectively works as an Architecture Community across domains sharing reusable patterns and solutions learnt on projects, independently of projects and domains.If you are interested in helping shape the design of future Santander UK systems, then Solutions Architecture could be the choice for you.The difference you’ll make:
  • Providing essential services to Core Banking, as well as products for the bank to manage customers, accounts, pricing, transactions, etc. Core banking systems are crucial for the day-to-day operations of Santander, enabling us to serve our customers effectively
  • Producing functional architecture for project(s)
  • Reviewing the designs that have been produced by Engineering Teams using guidance and patterns that have been provided to them by Architecture
  • Validating that solutions align to the strategies of Santander UK (e.g. Retail & Corporate Bank & Group)
  • Working with the engineering community to deliver solutions primarily in an agile way
What you’ll bring:These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:
  • Domain driven design, with working knowledge of the BIAN framework, TOGAF, ArchiMate
  • Proven experience in defining & documenting As-Is & Target Architecture, working with stakeholders to help define & deliver strategic objectives & roadmaps, being embedded into the functional domain, balancing business requirements with functional & technical strategy
  • Experience defining and evolving RESTful APIs following best practices for scalability, versioning and documentation
  • Experience with event-driven architectures
  • Expertise in authorisation and security protocols, secure architecture practices, threat modelling
  • Problem-Solving Skills and an effective approach to tacking complex challenges
It would also be nice for you to have:
  • Understanding and practical experience with C4 Model for software architecture documentation and Architecture tools (e.g., Avolution Abacus)
  • Knowledge & experience with cloud-native Architectures
  • Experience in Microservices and Container Architectures
  • Experience with event streaming platforms
What else you need to know:This is a permanent role to be based at our Unity Place office, Milton Keynes.We want our people to thrive at work and home and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop.   • Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
