- Analyse issues related to plant and support systems, generate and submit solutions with full documentation, and obtain necessary approvals and signatures
- Monitor progress, record test results, and witness final testing and acceptance of equipment in line with design, performance, safety, quality, and technical specifications
- Ensure all documentation complies with project configuration control and Quality Assurance processes
- Coach and mentor junior or less experienced staff, ensuring they understand relevant systems and protocols; review their work and provide verification for other commissioning engineers
- Promote a quality-driven culture by recognising best practices and continuously implementing improvement initiatives
- Solid understanding and experience within an engineering environment
- Experience in shipbuilding or the marine industry is desirable
- Strong critical thinking skills - able to assess strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and approaches
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational abilities
- Experience in pneumatic and hydrostatic testing of structural vessels and piping systems
- HNC/HND level qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline, with relevant field experience
