Location : Durham County CouncilPay Rate : £32.73Team:Subject Access Request TeamRole : Full TimeHelp us safeguard and manage sensitive information effectively.Due to increasing demand, we are seeking an additional, full-time Subject Access Request Officer for an initial three-month period. The successful candidate will be a qualified social worker, responsible for accessing and extracting information from digital records while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.About the Role and Responsibilities:
  • Process Subject Access Requests: Process subject access requests in line with the Data Protection Act and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • Locate, Access, and Extract Information: Locate, access, and extract information from computer systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Information Redaction: Redact third-party and sensitive information to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Liaise with Internal Departments: Liaise with internal departments to obtain relevant documentation.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain accurate records of requests, responses, and actions taken.
  • Information Governance: Provide guidance and advice on information governance and data protection matters.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure all information handling practices adhere to council policies and procedures.
Key Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent).
  • Social Care England registration.
  • Updated DBS check.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Social Work.
  • Successful completion of ASYE.
  • Previous experience in records management, data protection, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of the Data Protection Act and GDPR.
  • Experience working within a local authority or similar organization.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive data securely.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads efficiently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
