
Project Procurement Lead - Slough, UK

- Develop and implement the Procurement Execution Strategy for assigned projects.
- Oversee end-to-end procurement activities, including sourcing, expediting, contract management, and contract closeout for:
- Goods: Process and electrical equipment, AHUs, utility pumps and valves, lab equipment, furniture, consumables, automation systems, and spare parts.
- Services: Construction, piping, HVAC, electrical and cleanroom fit-out, engineering, consulting, and planning.
- Actively manage the Procurement Master Plan (PMP), providing timely reporting, risk identification, and mitigation throughout project delivery.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including:
- Procurement team (buyers, order and contract managers, category owners)
- Lonza procurement and category management leadership
- Project directors, managers, engineers, and subject matter experts
- Support functions (Quality, EHS, Legal, Finance, HR)
- Third parties such as EPCM, EPC contractors, and key suppliers.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in capital project procurement management; pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience strongly preferred.
- Proven expertise in plant construction procurement and contract negotiation.
- Fluency in English required; German language skills a plus.
- Strong communicator and team player, able to work effectively within matrix organizations and interdisciplinary teams.
- Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Resilient and proactive, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment.
- Technical training (ETH, FH, or equivalent) in process, chemical, mechanical, civil, or plant engineering advantageous.
- Essential experience: Procurement leadership on large-scale CAPEX projects, ideally within the pharmaceutical sector.
