
Consultant Gastroenterologist

- Performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures, including OGD, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy.
- Acting as the Lead Consultant for Endoscopy on sitementoring peers, overseeing best practice, and enhancing service delivery.
- Contributing to audits, data reporting for JAG accreditation, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Managing patient outcomes including pathology results and referrals to local MDTs where needed.
- Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team including consultants, endoscopy nurses, and management colleagues to maintain and improve clinical standards.
- Engaging in regular clinical governance activities, including incident reviews, SPA time, and departmental meetings.
- Supporting and, where required, delivering training for endoscopists in line with JAG and Practice Plus Group standards.
- JAG-accredited for independent practice in upper and/or lower GI endoscopy.
- Demonstrable competence aligned to GRS and JAG KPIs (e.g., colonoscopy completion rate
- Substantial experience in treating gastrointestinal conditions in a specialist setting.
- A proactive, team-oriented approach, with a strong commitment to patient care and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and influence others.
- Commitment to CPD, clinical governance, and contributing to strategic improvement of services.
