If speculative CVs are sent, no fee will be applicable - please direct all queries to the relevant Resourcing Partner.senior quantity surveyor - oak fire protectionromfordWhat you will be doing:An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team at Galliford Try within our Oak Fire Protection Business.Ideally, you will based in or around the Romford area and will have opportunity to travel within the region.We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join our Passive Fire Protection business unit. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the commercial and financial aspects of projects, ensuring cost control, contractual compliance, and maximising value across multiple passive fire protection schemes. This role is suited to a commercially astute professional with specialist knowledge or strong interest in the fire protection sector.
- Manage all commercial aspects of passive fire protection projects from tender through to final account.
- Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and variations in line with company policies.
- Provide accurate cost forecasting, cashflow projections, and monthly valuations.
- Assess, submit, and agree interim applications for payment and final accounts.
- Lead on commercial risk management, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
- Provide cost advice and value engineering input during project planning and delivery.
- Collaborate with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure smooth delivery and financial control.
- Oversee procurement of subcontractors, suppliers, and materials.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and company procedures.
- Mentor and support junior QS staff within the business unit.
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with at least 2 years in role within Passive Fire Protection industry.
- Knowledge and experience in passive fire protection, fire-stopping, or associated building safety disciplines highly desirable.
- Strong contractual knowledge (JCT/NEC and subcontract agreements).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical, financial, and reporting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively.
- Proficiency in relevant software (Excel, measurement tools, cost management systems).
