
Senior Clinical Fellow in Colorectal Surgery

- Supervise the clinical & teaching activities of junior trainees.
- Assess all new patients & liaise with the Consultant and other colleagues.
- Maintain appropriate clinical progress notes in the case notes.
- Keep relatives informed regarding the progress of the patient & obtain Informed Consent for operations/procedures co-ordinating with the Consultant as appropriate.
- Attend the regular operating sessions of the Clinical Team to assist with major surgery & be trained in skills of increasing complexity under the close supervision of the Consultant.
- Assist in the operating sessions of other teams from time to time and co-ordinate, assist with/perform emergency operations.
- Dictate discharge summaries.
- Dictate outpatient clinic letters & other relevant clinical correspondence.
- Dictate operating notes/write operation notes in conjunction with the Consultant.

- Meets professional health requirements in line with GMC Standards/ Good Medical Practice (GMC check to confirm)
- Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
- MBBS or equivalent
- Higher Medical Degree (MD or MSc)
- Peri or post CCT
- Wide experience of general surgery
- Basic surgical training in surgery
- UK experience in General Surgery at middle grade level
- Previous involvement in audit/research
- Understanding of research methodology and ethics
- Examples of effective communication skills
- Works well within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Examples of good organisation skills.
- Evidence of interest in personal development e.g. courses, research.
- Meets professional health requirements in line with GMC Standards/ Good Medical Practice (GMC check to confirm)
