Are you a patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic individual with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?A dedicated 1:1 Autism Support Assistant is sought to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Salford. The role involves providing crucial support to a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This presents an exceptional opportunity to positively impact a child's educational journey and support their development.About the Role
  • Provide targeted 1:1 support to a primary school-aged child with Autism, helping them access the curriculum and participate in school life.
  • Assist in developing and implementing individual learning plans, adjusting the approach to meet the child's specific needs and learning styles.
  • Support the child's social and emotional development, promoting positive interactions and building self-esteem.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals (such as speech and language therapists) to ensure a holistic approach to the child's development.
  • Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors in a calm and supportive manner, in line with school policies.
  • Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment, including preparing and adapting learning materials.
Requirements
  • Experience supporting children or young people, ideally with ASD, in an educational or care setting but not essential.
  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, colleagues, and parents.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential. Training in areas such as autism awareness and behavior management can be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
