Students benefit from small class sizes, collaborative planning between teachers and therapists, and a variety of enrichment activities designed to build confidence, independence, and personal growth.About the Role:As a Learning Difficulties Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils who require additional learning assistance. You will provide one-to-one or small group support, help deliver differentiated learning activities, and contribute to creating an inclusive, positive classroom environment that encourages independence and confidence.Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with learning difficulties.
- Assist teachers in delivering differentiated and engaging lessons.
- Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive attitudes.
- Prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Encourage independence and confidence in learning.
- Supervise students during breaks or lunchtimes when required.
- Support students during school trips and extracurricular activities.
- Experience working with children with learning difficulties in a UK school or similar setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting children.
- Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3, or equivalent (desirable).
- A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling or a similar field is desirable but not mandatory.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
