I am seeking two experienced Workshop Managers to lead operations at our busy Fleet Services Depot. Based on York Road (LS9 7QQ), you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our commercial vehicle maintenance and repair workshops, ensuring that services are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of a commercial vehicle maintenance and repair workshop.
- Manage and lead a team of technicians, ensuring work is carried out effectively and meets safety and compliance standards.
- Allocate workloads, monitor productivity, and ensure deadlines and service targets are met.
- Ensure all vehicle inspections, servicing, diagnostics, and repairs are completed to DVSA and manufacturer standards.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal policies.
- Liaise with internal departments and external contractors to coordinate fleet servicing and maintenance.
- Monitor parts usage and stock levels, raising purchase orders and managing suppliers where necessary.
- Use fleet management and job scheduling systems to track performance and record workshop activity.
- Lead, motivate, and support staff, including appraisals, performance management, and identifying training needs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and efficiency.
- Proven experience managing commercial vehicle workshops or fleet maintenance operations
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle maintenance, DVSA regulations, and fleet compliance requirements
- Good understanding of health and safety practices and legislation
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Ability to use workshop systems and IT tools for scheduling, reporting, and compliance tracking
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A valid UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable but not essential)
