Do you want to make a meaningful difference to children with additional needs in a primary school setting?A welcoming primary school in Hemel Hempstead with a dedicated SEN department is recruiting a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who are passionate about working with children and interested in careers such as teaching, educational psychology, or therapeutic support.The Role – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
- Work with pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 who have additional needs such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support, helping children access the curriculum and develop essential social and learning skills.
- Support class teachers in adapting activities and creating an inclusive, nurturing classroom.
- Encourage children to build confidence, independence, and resilience in both their learning and personal development.
- Earn up to £600 per week (depending on experience)
- Full-time, long-term role – Monday to Friday, term-time
- Training from experienced SEN professionals and access to school CPD programmes
- Excellent foundation for a career in Primary Teaching, Educational Psychology, SEN support, Speech and Language Therapy, or Child Mental Health

- A 2:1 degree or higher – Psychology, Education, or related fields are particularly relevant
- A genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs
- Adaptable, resilient, and patient in different situations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Previous experience with children or SEN (in schools, youth work, or care) is beneficial but not essential
- Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
