Location: BasingstokeI’m working with a consultancy in Basingstoke who are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join their civils team. This role is office-based around 90% of the time, with site visits as needed across Network Rail assets.You’ll be responsible for inspections, ground investigations (including coring samples), and assurance across a mix of assets including steel and timber structures. While the role is inspection-led, there will also be opportunities to step in on design work when required. You’ll also provide mentorship to a small number of graduates, so experience in guiding junior engineers would be beneficial.This would suit someone who has come from an SME or smaller consultancy environment, confident in wearing a few different hats and stepping in where needed. The business is flexible in terms of background, so this could suit either an established Senior Engineer or someone ready to make the step up.This position offers the chance to work across diverse civil engineering projects while contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment.Responsibilities:
- Undertake inspections and assurance work on Network Rail assets, including steel and timber structures.
- Support ground investigation activities such as GI works, coring and sampling.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to graduates and junior engineers.
- Step in on design work as required to support project delivery.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed within a small, flexible team.
- Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering (ICE membership desirable).
- Previous experience in inspections and assurance across civil assets.
- Knowledge of steel and timber structures.
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior engineers (advantageous).
- SME/small consultancy background preferred.
- Full UK driving licence (pool car available).
- PTS certificate beneficial (training can be provided).
