The OpportunityIn the role of Derby SAL Advisor , here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:We want every child and young person with special educational needs and/or disabilities in Derby to be able to ‘live their best life’. Derby SAL plays a massive part in making sure that this happens.We work with professionals and families who support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities to make sure that they achieve well in their early years at school and in college to lead happy and fulfilling lives.You will join a dedicated team where you will work with colleagues in health, schools, and social care, to fully involve children and young people, and their parents and carers, to ensure that they get the support they need and achieve their potential. Through your work supporting schools, you will deliver high quality CPD and training sessions, meet with parents, carers and schools as part of the EHCNA process to develop the SEND support service provision across the City.You will be passionate about giving the best possible opportunities to our children and young people and will be innovative and creative in how you solve problems. You will support the service on our continuous improvement journey by highlighting blockages and identifying solutions to ensure that the service is continuously improving.About YouTo be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have...
  • Experience of working with children and young people with SEND in an educational setting with an excellent knowledge of a range of special educational needs.
  • Have a sound knowledge of Support offered to families across Derby
  • You should have up to date knowledge of legislation and statutory frameworks, with a solutions focused attitude who can consider complex situations and a variety of solutions.
  • Be confident in delivering high quality CPD sessions.
  • Have good communication skills
