- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor construction quality, workmanship, and adherence to specifications.
- Identify and report defects, non-compliance, and health & safety risks, ensuring timely resolution.
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure CDM and H&S obligations are met.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Building Surveyors and Project Managers to ensure design intent is realised on site.
- Provide technical input during pre-construction and construction phases.
- Assist in the development of internal quality assurance protocols and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Proven experience in a Clerk of Works or site inspection role, ideally within a consultancy environment.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Demonstrable experience in fabric inspection and fire safety compliance, including familiarity with passive fire protection systems and fire stopping.
- Working knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and Health & Safety legislation.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and impartially.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. ICWCI membership, NEBOSH Construction Certificate, HNC/HND in Construction or similar).
- Building Surveying: Ensuring that survey recommendations are implemented correctly during refurbishment or remedial works.
- Project Management: Supporting PMs with on-site verification and progress reporting.
- Fire Safety: Identifying fire safety risks and ensuring compliance with fire strategy during construction.
- Environmental and M&E: Flagging sustainability or services-related issues that may impact performance or compliance.
- Health and Safety: Flagging safety concerns for attention by the principal contractor.
