- Engage with the business SMEs and risk owners to provide specialist risk advise and encourage the challenging of established risk processes, controls, approaches and thinking.
- Provide a lead point of technical referral for the processes of risk management and proactively provide risk advice and support to the leadership team.
- Raise awareness of risks within the business to the leadership team, recommending and taking forward measures to either remove or mitigate those risks.
- Lead the enhancement of risk appetite through the business area.
- Oversee the development of KRIs and other relevant risk measures.
- Direct and deliver the preparation of impactful, evidence based and structured risk / controls insight to senior management and management forums.
- Supports or leads for the Head of First Line Risk for the business area in first line risk alignment activity.
- Support and influence the business SMEs and risk owners in ensuring risks and controls are considered in change activity.
- Directs the work of others within the team.
- Work collaboratively and in alignment with other First Line Risk functions.
- Develop and maintain own risk management capabilities and understanding.
- Advocate the role of the First Line Risk and Controls team to the First, Second and Third Line stakeholders and act as a trusted partner for controls improvement activities.
- Awareness of the operations and risks of a general insurance company
- Strong stakeholder management skills with an ability to actively listen, build strong relationships and influence at all levels, experience challenging the decisions of manager at all levels in a professional and robust way.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain technical and complex concepts clearly and concisely, with a focus on risk-based analysis and insights.
- Pragmatic mindset with ability to balance commercial and risk considerations.
- A logical and analytical mind with ability to reach reasoned conclusions from ambiguous and incomplete information.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, with ability to step back and see the wider view.
- Exceptional organisational skills.
- Work collaboratively in an environment where there are multiple and conflicting deadlines.
- Knowledge and experience of Allianz systems and processes within Claims, Financial Crime or Supplier management would be advantageous.
