- Risk Rating Development - Using relevant medical and market data to support a consistent, accurate, and robust approach to rating pre-existing medical conditions for insurance applications.
- Ongoing Dataset Management - Helping to identify and implement updates that reflect new medical conditions, treatments, research findings, regulatory changes, customer feedback, and claims analytics.
- Product Maintenance & Delivery - Working with Product and Client Services teams to plan, implement, test, and release updates to Risk Rating Tools, and assisting Client Services in explaining and justifying changes to clients throughout the update cycle.
- Product Innovation - Contributing ideas and medical expertise to the development of new features or tools that enhance our Risk Rating Tools across different product lines.
- Specialist Client Support - Supporting the Risk Rating Support Line by helping to manage and resolve complex medical underwriting queries, ensuring accurate and consistent outcomes for clients.
- Learn how insurers approach medical risk assessment and apply your clinical knowledge to strengthen our risk rating datasets and outputs for insurers, intermediaries, and customers.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical advancements, treatment pathways, and public health trends relevant to insurance.
- Apply strong attention to detail when reviewing datasets, risk ratings, and documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
- Work closely with the Senior Product Manager and Business Development teams to understand the impact of regulatory and legislative changes across markets.
- Collaborate with the leadership team and data analytics specialists to explore how product and claims data can improve our tools and create additional value for clients.
- Support Client Services in clearly explaining the reasoning and evidence behind dataset changes to clients during the update cycle.
- Gain an understanding of the Risk Rating Tools' features and capabilities, and contribute ideas to improve how clients use them and benefit from them.
- A nursing qualification (e.g., RN, BSc Nursing) with a minimum of 6 years' post-qualification experience (essential). Applicants with a medical qualification (e.g., MBBS, MD) and equivalent experience may also be considered.” (essential).
- Experience working in a clinical setting, whether acute care or another relevant area of practice (preferred)
- Broad and current knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and a wide range of medical conditions (essential).
- Current registration with the GMC, NMC, or equivalent professional medical body (desirable).
- Experience in, or understanding of, commercial life, health, or travel insurance (preferred).
- Experience in, or understanding of, medical research (desirable).
- Experience in, or understanding of, risk assessment and/or underwriting (desirable).
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in data handling, analysis, and communication (essential).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in presenting to varied audiences.
- Logical thinking, analytical skills, and effective problem solving.
- Understanding of risk assessment principles, probabilities, and statistics (desirable).
- Ability to translate complex medical information into clear, plain English for product development, client communications, and training.
