You'll join a forward-thinking team, work in a collaborative environment, and will be given opportunities to make real contributions to the company.Responsibilities
- Lead projects and manage key clients
- Assist the mechanical team in tendering projects
- Work effectively alone and as part of the wider MEP team
- Mentor Junior staff
- Undertake Mechanical Building Services design
- Preparation of design calculations in line with industry standards, regulatory compliance, and best practice.
- Preparation of technical specifications, tender documentation, and technical reports.
- Checking design calculations, design drawings and specifications prepared by others on a variety of projects
- Site surveys and inspections
- Manage own workload and workload of others
- Monitor site works
- Preparing and managing fee budgets
- Coordination of services, with a sound understanding of the interfaces and interactions between services, architecture, and structure of buildings.
- Ensure mechanical design quality is maintained
- Ensure delivery of projects within time to budget
- Resource management across the mechanical package
- Minimum BEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building services engineering related subject/suitable equivalent experience.
- High level of technical skill in mechanical building services is essential.
- Exceptional skill and knowledge of working in a design consultancy - experience of working within a contractor environment is additionally welcome.
- Significant experience in the production of the Mechanical design across all RIBA Stages 0 to 7, public health experience would be beneficial.
- Capable of accurate work under pressure and able to work on several projects simultaneously.
- Able to understand and express technical concepts effectively both in writing and verbally to clients and team members at various levels of technical understanding.
- Able to innovate new solutions as well as applying existing solutions to problems, able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.
- Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients and other designers is essential.
- The ability to be willing to be mobile, travel within the UK and abroad for project related work would be beneficial.
- Good level of computer literacy in Windows, Hevacomp, IES, NBS and Microsoft packages - and a working understanding of AutoCAD/Revit is beneficial.
